I would love to see the The San Diego Black Professionals Meetup Group come out and support the Urban League's Equal Opportunity Day Awards Luncheon and Diversity Summit--"Power of Inclusion", Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the U.S. Grant Hotel (326 Broadway, San Diego, CA 92101). The Diversity Summit Workshop begin at 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Awards Luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. To RSVP or receive more information, please visit www.DiversitySummit.Info.

It will provide a wonderful opportunity for you to show support in the community, network with other professionals, and support Dr. Constance Carroll, Chancellor, San Diego Community College District and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

With support from companies like yours, we are able to provide educational services and scholarships generated through our annual signature events like the Equal Opportunity Awards Day, Mentorship Day, and Golden Pyramid/National Achievers Society. With your support, our agency can provide meaningful activities that will impact our constituents. For example:

-A donation of $250 will help the Urban League support a bus to bring at-risk youth on a field trip to a science museum, an engineering company, a medical organization, or banking institution;
-$500 will provide one month of math and science materials for 50 youth;
-$600 will provide funding for one student to participate in a robotics lesson with the BE SMART math and science program; and
-$1,900 will help provide a venue to hold a large housing clinic in needed areas.

As a non-profit organization, founded in 1953, the Urban League of San Diego County serves the people of the entire county, reaching out not only to African Americans, but to people of all colors, ages and beliefs for whom the playing field has not been level. For more than four decades, the League has attempted to impact an estimated 447,000 individuals to achieve social and economic equality. The League currently has three multi-service divisions: [1] Employment and Training; [2] Education, Youth and Family Services, and [3] Housing and Community Development while operating on a tight budget.

Attached, please find a copy of the invitation, reply card, and summit agenda (showcasing speakers and topics in Education, Generations, Inclusion, and Healthcare).

I look forward to hearing from you soon. Please enjoy the remainder of your day!

Warmest regards,
Kea
