Join MSO Chicago as we volunteer with the CGFD. We will work in the warehouse repacking food for people who are in need of some extra blessings. Please bring a canned or non-perishable food item to donate.

What to Expect

Orientation: Before working, we provide a brief orientation for all new volunteers. We will talk about poverty and hunger in Chicago, how the Food Depository functions, who we serve, and answer any questions you may have about our operation.
Work Session: You will spend the majority of the session repacking food in the warehouse. Groups will be given the option of taking a short break halfway through a three hour session.

Personal Belongings: Lockers are provided for purses and other belongings.

Dress Requirements: Please wear long pants and closed shoes with non-skid soles. You will not be permitted to work in the warehouse if you are wearing sandals or shorts/skirt.

**Our production team plans volunteer projects based on our projected number of volunteers for that day. If the number of people in your group changes, please inform us ahead of time so we can adjust our project plans accordingly to make sure necessary work is completed.

What To Bring?

We encourage each volunteer to bring an item of canned or non-perishable food to donate.

    • “ well, this morning we met at the chicago food depository. getting there was pretty easy, lots of different groups and everyone seemed friendly. this was my first time doing anything like that. I realy enjoyed what we were doing and would do it again without thinking twice. as for the kink in my lower back from working the food line i think i'll start up a massage meet up. have a blessed day. ”
