RECORD BREAKING NUMBERS EXPECTED TO REGISTER TO VOTE IN MONTBELLO

The grassroots organization, Register Your Voice, will host a voter registration drive in front of the Montbello Safeway, located at 4884 Chambers Road, in Denver, Colorado this Saturday, October 4, 2008.  Register Your Voice hopes to enlist 1000 new voters by the end of day.

"When you're working two and sometimes three jobs, it can be difficult to find the time to register, no matter how much you care about local and national politics. Our goal is to make voter registration as easy as possible," said Tamara Banks, Freelance Journalist and Documentary Filmmaker.

The voter registration drive will take place 10:00am to 3:00pm, this Saturday, October 4, 2008, in front of the Montbello Safeway, located at 4884 Chambers Road. An's Lemon Grass Grill and Caribbean Cuisine have donated Jamaican and Vietnamese cuisine to create a festive atmosphere. Over fifty volunteers are expected to contribute time, money and supplies to assist the residents of Montbello neighborhood to register before the October 6, 2008 deadline.

"Many people don't realize that those who have completed their sentences as a convicted felon are eligible to register to vote," said Leslii Lewis, organizer and State employee. "Also, young adults who will be 18 years old before November 4, 2008 can also register and make their voices heard."

"The registration deadline is this Monday," said Patricia Mejia, organizer and Director of Public Relations and Communications at DRG Construction. "It's now or never."

Hey All! This is Janice. A girlfriend and I just heard that over 40,000 folks in Montbello are not registered to vote! And the deadline is this Monday. We decided to throw a "last chance to register" voter registration drive this Saturday in front of the Montbello Safeway. We need help with any of the following :

1. A $25 donation (to cover water, food and rentals)
2. 1 hour of time to help folks complete their registration forms.
3. Spread around the press release and get the word out (shoot me an email and I'll send the formal press release)!

Warmest,
Janice
